Seven Card Stud Poker - Gameplay
The game of Seven Card Stud poker begins with each player receiving two cards face down and one card face up. If you play with a bring-in, the player who has the lowest-ranking upcard has to pay it, and after that betting proceeds in normal clockwise order. Note that the bring-in is considered an open, so the player who is next in turn may not check. If it happens that two or more players have equally ranked low cards, it is possible to use suit to break the tie and assign the bring-in. If you are playing Seven Card Stud poker without a bring-in, the player with the highest-ranking upcard begins the first betting round, and he or she may also decide to check. Suit cannot be used to break ties here, so if two or more players should have the same high upcard, the one that is first in clockwise rotation from the dealer acts first.
After the first betting round completes, each player is dealt another upcard (this is done after a burn card, and starts at the dealer's left as do all subsequent rounds). After this is done, a second betting round follows beginning with the player with the upcards making the best poker hand. Since there are fewer than five cards face up, no straights, flushes, or full houses will count for this purpose. On this and all subsequent betting rounds, the Seven Card Stud poker player with the best poker hand made from their face-up cards acts first, and may check or bet up to the game's limit. After the second betting round, a third upcard and betting round follow, then a fourth upcard and betting round, and finally a downcard, after which is the last, fifth betting round, followed by showdown if necessary. Therefore, Seven Card Stud poker can be summersized as "two down, four up, one down". On showdown, each player makes the best possible poker hand with five of the seven cards he was dealt.
Seven Card Stud Poker - Betting Limits
Seven Card Stud poker games are defined by their betting limits - the low-staked online games are usually $2-$4 while the higher games typically being $8-$16 or $10-$20. In a land-based casino, you may see Seven Card Stud poker games at up to $100-$200 or even higher, but these stakes are very rare on the Internet. Each game's betting limits tell the experienced player basically everything they need to know about the nature of the game, the expectations of the players, and the size of the bankroll he or she will need to play there for longer periods of time.
Seven Card Stud Poker - The Ante
In Seven Card Stud poker, it is mandatory to play with an Ante, which changes depending on the betting limits. Genarally, the low games have a 10 percent Ante, so a $5-$10 game will have a $0,50 Ante. However the higher games get up to 25 percent, for example a $25 Ante may be required on a $100-$200 game. Althoug the percentages may vary, 10 percent is the typical minimum.
